FAQ

A. After securing the TruRest to or resting the TruRest on the tray table or other table or desk top surface, we recommend the following:
  1. Adjust the proximity or distance between the TruRest and your body while finding your most comfortable position on the seat.
  2. Place your chest on the chest support and lean into the TruRest to gage where your face lies in relation to the face plate. Your forehead should rest squarely on the forehead cushion on the face plate and you should have an even distribution of contact pressure with the cushions to support your overall face at the forehead and cheeks. Remove and readjust face plate cushions if needed to achieve this optimal distribution of contact pressure. Remove chest support cushion to achieve comfort in the chest region.
  3. If needed, raise or lower the height using the pivot lock and incline slide adjustments located on the chest support.
  4. Adjust the angle of the TruRest using the angle adjustment button located on the buttress.
  5. Adjust the angle of the face plate using the knob on the back of the face plate. Turning the knob clockwise angles face plate towards you and counter clockwise angles the face plate away from you.
  6. It is optimal to find a position in which 60 – 70% of your weight is being supported by the chest support.
  7. It is optimal to avoid slumping and keep the back straight while resting against the TruRest to maintain proper alignment of the spine.
A. Overall there is no right or wrong way to adjust or fit the TruRest to your body. The TruRest will fit everyone’s body differently – that’s why we added so many adjustment features. Also, since everyone has different ideas of what is comfortable, we recommend spending some time to play around with the adjustments until you find a setting that is comfortable for you. That being said we make the following recommendations for optimal comfort:
  • Find a setting in which 60 – 70% of your weight is being supported by chest support. Adjust proximity, angle and face plate angle to find this optimal position.
  • You should have an even distribution of contact pressure with the cushions to support your overall face at the forehead and cheeks. Adjust face plate angle and remove and readjust face plate cushions to find this optimal position.
  • Avoid slumping and keep the back straight while resting against the TruRest to maintain proper alignment of the spine.
